All Things British

The Royal Family has been making a lot of news with their trip down under. So I thought I'd take a stab at a British-themed room. I think it would be fun to do a British-themed room if mom or dad are from England, or maybe they just had a trip of a life-time there. Or maybe like my LO, yours is obsessed with clocks and buses. It also goes away from the traditional boy room themes which I am all about.

Personally I'd go for a simple bedspread like the one below. You can use it for many years and hand it down to younger kiddos. I like to buy quality bedspreads so they last through all the washes.

A chic print over the bed. Nothing too over the top because I am featuring a wall decal that should be the focus of the room.

A cute little bedside clock. I don't like spending too much on clocks as my son is obsessed with them so there is a good chance they will some how get ruined :) This is a Big Ben clock - perfect!

Collect some old vintage English buses and put them up on a shelf.

This is a fun wall decal I found. Make sure your wall is verrrry clean when you apply these decals. They work best on super flat walls (i.e. if you have a wall with small bumps they do not stick well).

I loved the carpet featured in the wall decal picture, so I found something somewhat similar.

Vintage luggage as a decoration would also be super fun. I especially love the luggage shown here with the British Flag.

Whale Room

It all started with a pillow.  I saw this adorable pillow and instantly wished I could have a 3rd boy to have a room like this.  The simple message, "Dream Big" is just darling for a nursery room.  As of today, this pillow is also on sale, so BUY IT NOW!

This bedding is just gorgeous.  Not too much whale but enough to compliment the pillow.  This is ALSO on sale as of today (April 14, 2014).  This is a fairly expensive brand, so buy this now too!

I was going to feature a tan colored glider chair but truth be told, kids are really messy.  And these chairs ain't cheap.  Therefore I'm featuring a darker glider chair so if there are any stains, they hopefully will get lost in the color.

To emphasize the nautical theme, get a glass jar and fill it full of compasses like this one I found on Etsy.

Put these lamp shades over your changing table.

And last but not least, some artwork.  I personally do not like going overboard on a theme with artwork.  I think the artwork should be appealing to both baby and mama.  And I bet a new baby would just love these bold contrast colors.  Buy two of them from this Etsy dealer and put them right next to each other over your crib.
